Bender & Schillinger @ Red Cat

Bender & Schillinger is this Duo from Mainz- Linda Bender and Chris Schillinger. They recently won the STUZ- Band contest, which -I might add- they absolutely deserved to win. The first time I heard them was in January at the Baron on campus. Not only can they sing BUT they also play several instruments and write their own songs. Their harmonies are wicked and once you’ll see them on stage- you will keep coming back for more. Their sound is raw and honest, you’ll believe every word they say(sing).

Last night they played at a local venue-Red Cat as supporting act. Although paying 7 EUR-which is ridiculous since we’re students- our money was well spent. I somehow had the feeling that more people came out to see Bender&Schillinger instead of the “main” band. So there we were, my flat mates and I, standing in the second row with our eyes closed and enjoying the beautiful acoustic sound. But unfortunately all good things must come to an end and for me it was the minute they got off stage.

Linda rocked a wicked outfit: Navy blue trousers, a plain top and suspender!

Here are some images from last night.

Here is a link to their website:

P.S.:I would like to thank the lovely bartender for the free drink. And nice meeting you Mona, here is a snap shot of you and the bloke who bought us a drink!

Outfit: Jeans shorts (Vintage), black tights, wedges, blouse (H&M)

That’s it for today, spk soon!

Cheers! X

The Implication Of Alcohol

Why do we find ourselves hung over after an excessive night of drinking?
I am wondering whether the alcohol or our actions lead to the hang over, shatterness, insomnia, exhaustion.
We feel so much better drinking, talking, words come out so easily, but to take them back might take a lifetime, if even that.
To be quite honest, do we have enough control over our brain and be able to navigate our actions?
I am afraid, to answer that question with a NO!
People keep inventing new computers, motorways, all sorts of things. How about a personal navigation for each individual? I would have a blast, never to worry again.
Mistakes should be made or not? How do we learn our lesson, if we never fail ?

BOY- It Is Bloody Cold Outside

The temperatures in Germany are constantly dropping. It is freezing. I came down with an ear infection, a cold etc. As stated in my previous post, I also had exams last week and another one next week Wednesday. So I’ve pretty much spent my time in bed and the library studying.

The only thing that kept me going is the new BOY album. I absolutely love it. I listen to it every spare moment. The Duo is from Switzerland and Germany (was just brought to my attention by a friend ) – what kind of Genre? Somewhere between Folk-Acoustic-Pop. They will be touring Germany this spring and guess who just got some tickets? Yup, that would be me. I am so excited. I really need to get back to my books now. BTW, did you know that the privilege of literacy  belonged to monks and vicars until the 13th century ? Furthermore, were you aware of the fact that with inventing the font there were critics who thought that people might lose their intelligence due to them being able to write thoughts down? Okay, enough now, as you can tell, I really should get back to studying. Girls, you have a lovely day.

Xoxo

Meeting the lovely Cecelia Ahern

My friend Raphaela and I went to a local book store to meet the lovely Cecilia Ahern. For those of you, who are not familiar with her, here’s a link to her website:

http://uk.cecelia-ahern.com/

The 30-year-old Irish writer first published in 2004, the title of her first novel: P.S. I love you. I really liked her book, however, the movie didn’t do her no justice at all. For starters, how can you change the settings to NY, when the book took place in Ireland. On the upside, Gerald Butler was quite the eye catcher in the movie, so it made it worthwile :)

Anyway, so my  girl and I went and picked up her latest book, got them signed and took a couple of pictures. And, have I mentioned how adorable Cecilia is?!?

A book review will be posted as soon as I’ve read the book!

Cheers! X
